The Indian Navy will commission INS Aravali at Gurugram on September 12 in the presence of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, the Ministry of Defence announced in a press release.
INS Aravali, which takes its name from the enduring Aravali range, has been established to extend support to multiple information and communication centres of the Navy.
These centres are a vital part of India’s and the Indian Navy’s overall command, control and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) framework, which together strengthen maritime security and operational preparedness.
Guided by the motto ‘Maritime Security through Collaboration’, the new Naval Base has been designed to embody a collaborative and supportive ethos. It will operate seamlessly alongside naval units, MDA centres and allied stakeholders, reflecting the Navy’s approach of working in unison to safeguard national maritime interests.
The Crest of INS Aravali carries deep symbolism. Its central mountain imagery represents the strength and permanence of the Aravali range, while the rising sun signifies eternal vigilance, resilience and energy. It also reflects the dawn of advanced technological capabilities in the fields of communication and MDA.
According to the Ministry, the crest captures the commitment of the base to uphold eternal vigilance and contribute to defending India’s maritime interests in an era of evolving security challenges.
