The government said the step has been taken to ensure timely assistance to Indian nationals in the region.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas established round-the-clock control rooms to closely track fuel supplies and stock levels nationwide, as tensions in West Asia intensified and global energy markets remained volatile.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on March 3 briefed the media on India’s preparedness, stressing that the government is actively monitoring the situation to ensure there is no disruption to domestic fuel availability.
The ministry said India has adequate reserves of crude oil and key petroleum products such as petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to withstand short-term supply disruptions. Officials added that inventory levels remain “reasonably comfortable” at present.
