India Pakistan News: Retreat ceremony resumes at Attari Border as crowds return

The Army Tuesday said no air defence guns or any other air defence resource were deployed within the Golden Temple premises during Operation Sindoor.

The assertion came in the wake of reports that the Golden Temple management had allowed the Army to deploy the air defence guns within the shrine to counter potential drone and missile threats from Pakistan.

"Some media reports are circulating with respect to deployment of AD Guns in the Golden Temple. It is clarified that NO AD guns or any other AD resource was deployed within the premises of Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar (Golden Temple),” an Army statement said. Read more

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have seized properties linked to four Pakistan-based terrorist handlers, police said on Tuesday.

Three of the properties were located in the Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, while one was in Awantipora, Pulwama district in south Kashmir, a police spokesperson confirmed.

In Sopore, officials confiscated 29 marlas (around 8,000 sq ft) of land owned by Arshid Ahmad Teli of Nowpora Tujjar, and Firdous Ahmad Dar alias Umar Dar, along with Nazir Ahmad Dar alias Shabir Illahi, both from Harwan. These individuals had previously been declared proclaimed offenders. The action was taken under Sections 82 and 83 of the CrPC by Sopore police with assistance from local revenue authorities.

In Awantipora, around 79 sq ft of land belonging to Pakistan-based operative Owais Feroze Mir in Frestabal Pampore was also seized. This attachment was done under Section 88 of the CrPC, following orders from the Additional Sessions Judge in Pulwama, a special court under the NIA Act.

Mir is also a proclaimed offender and is accused of aiding terror operations by providing weapons and reviving local militant networks, according to the police.

Speaking at the Tiranga Yatra, BJP leader Tarun Chugh said India has made it clear to the world that peace and terrorism cannot exist side by side. "Terror and talks cannot go hand in hand and the facade of terror and trade will no longer be tolerated," he said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the Indian Armed Forces have brought Pakistani military to its knees during the four-day conflict.

Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Singh reiterated that India's Operation Sindoor was singularly aimed to target terrorists and terror infrastructure inside Pakistan, contrary to the claims made by Pakistan-- that Indian strikes inflicted civilian casualties. Read more

The iconic Retreat ceremony at the Attari border is set to resume today, drawing crowds back to witness the patriotic spectacle. The ceremony will recommence at all three Joint Check Posts along the Punjab Frontier, marking the revival of the daily tradition after a temporary halt. Spectators have begun gathering once again, highlighting the event’s enduring appeal and symbolic significance.

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi stated that all seven all-party delegations heading abroad have been briefed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The delegations will visit over 25 nations, including all 15 current UN Security Council (UNSC) members and several countries expected to join the Council soon. The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s diplomatic outreach amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

Sarangi emphasized that Pakistan, a current UNSC member for the next 17 months, is likely to raise anti-India claims at the Council. To counter this, Indian MPs from various parties will jointly present India’s position to foreign governments, underlining the country’s united stand against terrorism. “We condemn Pakistan’s promotion of terrorism. This is our responsibility as elected representatives,” she said.

Highlighting India’s military response, Sarangi clarified that the country only targeted terrorist camps, destroying nine and eliminating over 100 militants with precision. “It’s baseless to claim India attacked Pakistani civilians,” she added.

On the Indus Water Treaty, she noted that despite repeated Indian efforts to renegotiate, Pakistan showed no cooperation. “India has now suspended the Treaty. Blood and water cannot flow together,” she said, justifying the government’s decision in the wake of the Pahalgam killings.

Sarangi concluded by reaffirming India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and reiterated that national security remains paramount.

CPI leader D Raja strongly criticized the government for briefing foreign governments on Operation Sindoor before informing India’s Parliament and public. “It is completely unacceptable that other countries are being informed while the Indian people and their elected representatives are kept in the dark,” he said, calling for greater transparency and parliamentary accountability on matters of national security.

In Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, an Indian Army officer reported that a direct, face-to-face battle was fought using small arms and supported by mortar fire from the rear. The officer said, "Face to face battle was fought with direct firing weapons, and our mortars supported us from the back. We indiscriminately fired on the enemy post and destroyed it. Pakistan Army started an unprovoked artillery fire, and we retaliated accordingly... We even used ATGMs to destroy their posts... There are 10-12 posts in the Poonch area that we destroyed... After they failed to destroy our military posts, they started firing on civilian areas... We destroyed their ammunition storage as well..."

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed members of three out of seven all-party delegations in preparation for their upcoming diplomatic visits following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The delegations, headed by JD(U)’s Sanjay Jha, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde, and DMK’s Kanimozhi, were guided on their agenda and key messaging points to represent India’s stance on the recent security developments during their international outreach.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Modi government over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. He alleged that the central government failed to ensure adequate security for tourists in the region. "Modi did not go to Kashmir because the Intelligence agencies asked him not to. Why didn't you (Central govt) tell the tourists not to go there (Pahalgam)? If you had told them, 26 lives could have been saved, and this small war," he said.

The Foreign Secretary is currently holding a detailed briefing for an all-party delegation of Members of Parliament at the Parliament complex.

Amid controversy over the composition of multi-party delegations announced the government as part of its global outreach to convey India's message under Operation Sindoor, the Centre has outrightly denied the Congress' claim that the government sought names of representatives to be included in the delegations.

"No party was asked to suggest names for the multi-party delegations for rallying global support for India’s war against terror originating from Pakistan. The government has picked leaders including those from the Opposition and contacted them directly but the Opposition should not make it an issue as they are on a solemn duty representing the country, not a party," Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju told The Indian Express.

Fresh revelations in the investigation of Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra suggest that Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, was allegedly using her to track and identify Indian undercover agents, an India Today report says. Malhotra remains in five-day police custody and is being interrogated by a joint team comprising officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Haryana Police.

Following the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra and an alleged Pakistani spy in Nuh, BJP National Spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain asserted that those who betray the nation while residing in India must face the harshest punishment. "Two agents have been apprehended, and a detailed interrogation is in progress to uncover the extent of their involvement with Pakistan," he said.

YouTuber from Haryana Jyoti Malhotra, who has been arrested for spying for Pakistan, showed no sign of remorse during interrogation, according to India Today. The report stated that Jyoti maintained that she was merely exercising her freedom of speech. Jyoti was allegedly in touch with Pakistani officials during the recent military conflict. Currently under police custody, her financial transactions and travel details are under scanner. Officials suspect that Malhotra was being cultivated as an “asset” for future spy operations. Jyoti Malhotra, who runs the YouTube channel Travel with JO, was arrested last week in Hisar by Haryana Police on suspicion of espionage for Pakistani agencies. “She used to say she was visiting Delhi. Two held by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Police; suspected links to ISIS module

• The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested an individual named Shahzad from Moradabad on charges of espionage for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. A resident of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, Shahzad had been frequently traveling to Pakistan over the past few years under the pretext of cross-border trade involving cosmetics, clothing, spices, and other items. However, during these trips, he allegedly developed close ties with ISI operatives and was actively working for the agency.
• According to UP ATS, Shahzad maintained regular contact with ISI agents and is accused of passing on sensitive and confidential information related to India’s national security. Based on verified intelligence, a case was registered against him under Sections 148 and 152 at the ATS unit in Lucknow. He was apprehended earlier today in Moradabad and is being presented before the court in accordance with legal procedures. Further investigation and legal proceedings are currently underway.

In a joint operation carried out by the Indian Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF’s 178 Battalion, and Shopian’s Special Operations Group (SOG), two terrorist associates were apprehended in the DK Pora area of Shopian. The security forces recovered two pistols, four grenades, 43 live rounds, and other incriminating items during the operation. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and further investigation is currently in progress, according to the Shopian Police.
