Chinese companies in India will soon be able to get Chinese professionals to head their businesses as New Delhi is likely to ease visa restrictions amid warming of ties between the two Asian rivals, a report by The Economic Time said on August 21.
Firms such as Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, Byd, Hisense and Haier were unable to appoint Chinese managers and the latest development could change the situation after five years, the report said.
The government is likely to clear most technical visas for critical positions such as chief executive officer, country head, general manager, and professional for sales, marketing and HR departments, the paper said.
Companies said the move was a “welcome relief” and it will lead to faster decision making, the paper said citing executives.
In the last few weeks, the ties between Beijing and New Delhi has improved with key meetings being held between officials from both sides. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit China later this month. The development follows rising tensions with the US over the imposition of tariffs.
