Several locations in Jammu were targeted by Pakistan.

Multiple border cities, including Pathankot, Amritsar and Jaisalmer, are witnessing complete blackout after Pakistan attempted to strike military sites with drones and missiles including in Jammu and Pathankot.

"Complete blackout in Jammu. Loud explosions — bombing, shelling, or missile strikes suspected. Fret not — Mata Vishnu Devi is with us, and so are valiant Indian Armed Forces," said Shesh Paul Vaid, former Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to security agencies, eight missiles were launched from Pakistan, targeting the Jammu civil airport, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, Akhnoor and nearby areas. However, India successfully intercepted the missiles with the S-400 air defence system.

Blackout enforced in following border cities:
  1. Jammu & Kashmir - A complete blackout has been enforced in Samba, Udhampur, Rajouri and few other places of Jammu & Kashmir.  A sudden power outage plunged Jammu city into darkness following loud explosions, likely resulting from the interception of intruding drones. Sirens echoed throughout the city in no time, alerting panic stricken residents to seek shelter.
  2. Rajasthan - Jaisalmer, a city bordering Pakistan in Rajasthan, Jodhpur and Barmer are witnessing complete blackout. In Sriganganagar as well, police asked the citizens to remain inside their homes and switch off lights. "There is a red alert. Everybody stay in their homes and turn off all lights," Sriganganagar Police said on X, formerly Twitter.  Earlier today, CM Bhajanlal Sharma held a high-level meeting at his residence regarding Rajasthan's international border security.
  3. Punjab - A blackout has been enforced in several districts including Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Mohali and Tarn Taran in Punjab and Union Territory Chandigarh.  In Jalandhar, some drones were spotted but were neutralised around 11:20 pm by security forces, news agency PTI said quoting officials. Air raid warning sirens were activated in Pathankot where the blackout was enforced around 8:30 pm. Pathankot Deputy Commissioner Aditya Uppal asked citizens in the border district to remain inside their homes and follow the protocols of the blackout.
  4. Gujarat -A total blackout was enforced in several parts of the border districts of Kutch and Banaskantha in Gujarat. Both districts share a border with Pakistan.  Officials confirmed that several parts of Kutch, including Bhuj, Nalia, Nakhatrana and Gandhidham towns, have been put under total blackout as a precautionary measure to deter any offensive gesture by Pakistan.
  5. Himachal Pradesh - The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was called off as tensions escalated at the border.

Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot & Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in J&K today, the defence ministry said in a statement. "The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported," it added.

The Border Security Force (BSF) too foiled a major infiltration attempt along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

Tensions have spiralled after Indian armed forces in the wee hours of Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's (JeM) base in Muridke, in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam.
