The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued an orange warning for very heavy rainfall over several parts of central and southern India.
According to the IMD, heavy showers are expected at isolated places in Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
The department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy downpours, in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha, Konkan, and Goa over the next three to four days.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to prevail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rayalaseema, Telangana, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Chhattisgarh until September 30.
The IMD advised residents in vulnerable regions to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures.
