As the countdown to Mahakumbh 2025 begins, the Uttar Pradesh government is racing against time to reshape Prayagraj into a world-class pilgrimage destination. With the UP government expecting a footfall of 40 crore devotees, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure push, placing special emphasis on building, expanding, and beautifying the city’s road network.
"Our vision is to create an unforgettable spiritual experience supported by world-class infrastructure," CM Yogi Adityanath declared recently. "The journey to Prayagraj should be as divine and seamless as the spiritual experience awaiting devotees at the Sangam."
To support this grand vision, the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government has allocated Rs 5,435.68 crore for organizing Mahakumbh 2025. This budget is being utilized across 421 projects, with Rs 3,461.99 crore already approved for financial implementation, officials confirmed.
The development of world-class road infrastructure is pivotal for the success of large-scale events like Mahakumbh 2025. Enhanced roads not only facilitate the efficient movement of millions of pilgrims but also significantly boost attendance.
Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, noted, "Mahakumbh 2025 will be a beacon of spiritual and environmental harmony. We are embracing green technology while honoring our age-old traditions."
The previous Kumbh Mela in 2019 generated approximately Rs 1.2 lakh crore in revenue, and Mahakumbh 2025 is expected to surpass that. Businesses have already committed Rs 3,000 crore in branding and marketing efforts, foreseeing unparalleled consumer engagement.
Nomita P Kumar of Giri Institute of Development Studies said: "The Maha Kumbh is a convergence of spirituality and commerce. Brands see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with millions on an emotional and cultural level."
With such unprecedented preparations, Uttar Pradesh is set to create a transformative pilgrimage experience at Mahakumbh 2025—one that seamlessly blends faith, culture, and cutting-edge infrastructure.
"We are building more than roads," CM Yogi Adityanath concluded. "We are building a legacy that future generations will remember with pride. Prayagraj will become a symbol of India’s spiritual and infrastructural renaissance."
