Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely in several parts of Telangana as the depression over west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal is moving north-northwestwards.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded an orange alert for several districts for the next two days, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Districts to be most affected, as per the IMD, are Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial, Adilabad, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam.

State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said 29 of the 33 districts in the state have been declared as flood-hit on the basis of rainfall recorded between August 31 and September 3.

People in Khammam were shifted to relief camps after Munneru river water levels started rising on Saturday night. Heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday caused huge inflows from upstream and triggered fears of fresh flooding in Khammam district.

As many as 31 people have lost their lives till Saturday, according to govt records.
