Union Health Minister JP Nadda is set to introduce two major nationwide programmes — the Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for India (SAHI) and the Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI (BODH) — during the India AI Summit at Bharat Mandapam on Tuesday.

According to the Health Ministry, SAHI has been conceived as a comprehensive policy blueprint to guide the safe and inclusive integration of artificial intelligence across the country’s medical ecosystem. Described as a framework promoting responsible use, it seeks to lay down direction on oversight, data governance, assessment standards, rollout mechanisms and continuous supervision of AI-driven tools. The ministry said in a statement on Monday that it would assist states and institutions in adopting such technologies in line with public health goals.

BODH, created by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, alongside the National Health Authority, is intended to act as a secure evaluation system for AI applications. The platform allows performance testing of models on varied real-world medical datasets while ensuring that raw data remains protected. Positioned as a digital public good under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, it is aimed at improving confidence, openness and quality benchmarks in AI-led healthcare delivery.

The statement noted that together these initiatives represent a major milestone in advancing a dependable and globally competitive AI-driven health environment in India.

Meanwhile, the India AI Impact Expo 2026, running from February 16 to 20 alongside the summit at Bharat Mandapam, is projected as a large-scale display of practical AI applications. Organisers describe it as a space “where policy meets practice, innovation meets scale, and technology meets the everyday citizen.”

The event spans 10 dedicated zones across more than 70,000 square metres and will include participation from technology giants, emerging enterprises, universities, research bodies, Union ministries, state administrations and overseas collaborators. Thirteen nations — including Australia, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan and Africa — are showcasing their presence through country pavilions.

More than 300 exhibition booths and live showcases are structured around three themes — People, Planet and Progress. The Expo will also feature over 600 startups presenting solutions already operational at scale. With over 500 sessions and upwards of 3,250 speakers, the gathering aims to examine AI’s cross-sectoral impact and deliberate on steps to ensure its benefits reach citizens worldwide.
