Suspended Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha, on Monday, said she would soon roll out a new political party, describing it as a “secular and non-partisan” platform committed to public welfare, social justice and inclusive development.
Projecting the proposed outfit as a viable alternative in Telangana politics, Kavitha said it would prioritise youth empowerment and give voice to sections she said have remained “ignored” within the existing political framework.
The announcement comes amid mounting political tension following her suspension from the BRS.
During proceedings in the Telangana Legislative Council, Kavitha grew emotional while responding to questions on her rift with the party leadership and accused the Congress of “spreading false narratives” about her.
“My fight is for self-respect, not for wealth. I swear by the God I believe in and by my two sons,” she said, who broke down during her address, stating that her political stand was driven by principle rather than personal ambition.

Kavitha also said she had tendered her resignation once again on the floor of the Legislative Council and expressed hope that the chairman would accept it. Describing the manner of her suspension from the BRS as “deeply insulting”, she said it had left her disillusioned with the party.

“The BRS has failed Telangana, and the Congress is doing the same. This state needs an independent political alternative,” she said, adding that a new political party would be launched soon to fight for the rights of the people.
Outlining her vision, Kavitha said the proposed platform would stand for “transparency, justice and inclusive growth” and appealed for public support to build an alternative to both the BRS and the ruling Congress.
According to news agency ANI, Kavitha interacted with citizens on X on December 15 under the hashtag #AskKavitha, responding for nearly 90 minutes to questions on her roadmap for Telangana, the future of Telangana Jagruthi, and her assessment of the Congress government.
She reiterated that achieving “Samajika Telangana” (Social Telangana) remains central to her political agenda, stressing that youth and women must be provided opportunities in fields of their choice.
Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi would continue its work for social justice, create political opportunities for youth and women, and strengthen its organisational base in phases.
On electoral plans, she said the proposed party would contest the 2029 Assembly elections, adding that its name would be finalised “based on suggestions from the people”.
Emphasising empowerment as a core pillar, Kavitha said quality education and healthcare must be accessible to all. “Parents in Telangana should not have to spend even a single rupee on their children’s education,” she said.
Addressing youth-centric priorities, she said job creation would be her top focus, along with ensuring security. She also announced that Telangana Jagruthi would soon launch a membership drive, noting that its committees already reflect representation from all sections.
Kavitha, the daughter of BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was suspended from the party in September following a prolonged internal rift, after alleging that senior leaders, including her cousins T. Harish Rao and K. Santosh Kumar, attempted to tarnish her father’s image over the Kaleshwaram project.
Since her suspension, she has been operating independently under the Telangana Jagruthi banner, expanding grassroots outreach through initiatives such as the Jagruthi Janam Bata.
She has repeatedly ruled out any return to the BRS, even if invited by its leadership, including KCR or her brother and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao. “I am disillusioned with the BRS. Even if KCR calls me, I will not go back,” she reiterated earlier this month.
Kavitha has also accused both the BRS and the Congress of “corruption and irregularities” and said she aims to carve out her own political space, asserting that Telangana needs a new political alternative after what she described as the failure of existing parties to meet public aspirations.
