National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah joined a group of devotees in singing a bhajan during his visit to Vaishno Devi shrine Jammu & Kashmir's Katra. The 87-year-old was attending a religious event in an ashram when a man singing the bhajan handed over the mic to him.
The former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister happily joined the group in singing the bhajan 'Tune Mujhe Bulaya Sherawaliye'. Upon being handed the mic, he promptly completed the bhajan by singing the part 'main aaya, main aaya Sheran waaliye'.

In the video which has gone viral on social media, Abdullah was seen donning a traditional red-coloured scarf, often associated with Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
The NC leader also addressed the ongoing issue of ropeway construction in Katra and said that those responsible for the operation of the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine should avoid actions that cause problems for the people.
"Those running the shrine's operations should not take actions that harm the interests of the local people or create problems for them," he said voicing support for the people of Katra in their protest against the ropeway project.
Abdullah emphasised that the people have the power to make or break governments, and now the authorities are reaching out to them to discuss where the ropeway should be constructed. "The people living in these hills come here to earn their livelihood with the blessings of Mata. But they have been forgotten. They think they are everything. They are nothing. When the power of God prevails, everything else fades away. Just look at what is happening in California," he added.
