BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday alleged that his mother was deliberately run over by a car in Pune, leaving her seriously injured, and appealed to the police to ensure swift action against the accused.
In a post on social media, Poonawalla shared details of the incident, stating that the driver fled the scene after hitting his mother. He said she would be undergoing surgery soon and urged people to pray for her recovery.
“A few hours ago an extremely disgusting human being ran his car over my mother deliberately - leaving her seriously injured and ran away. She will be undergoing a surgery very soon. Kindly pray for her," Poonawalla wrote in his X post.
"My mother is one of the kindest & nicest human beings and for her to be subjected to this at this age makes my blood boil and my heart sink,” Poonawalla further wrote.
The BJP leader also tagged the Pune police and senior officials, urging them to arrest the accused and ensure that the person responsible does not escape accountability.
“Hope @PuneCityPolice @CPPuneCity will arrest that person & will ensure he doesn’t get away with it,” the post said.
Poonawalla further tagged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Chief Minister’s Office in the post, seeking intervention in the matter.
“@Dev_Fadnavis @CMOMaharashtra,” he added.
There was no immediate response from the Pune police at the time of publishing this report.
