Yogesh Kadam has built strong public support in the Dapoli assembly constituency

Dapoli, a key Assembly constituency in Ratnagiri district, was part of the Ratnagiri Lok Sabha constituency until the 2008 delimitation. Following the changes, it became part of the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency -- which also includes Guhagar in Ratnagiri district and Pen, Alibag, Shrivardhan, and Mahad from Raigad district.

It is deeply rooted in history. It was the birthplace of the eminent social reformer Dhondo Keshav Karve and some part of Babasaheb Ambedkar's was also spent in Kalakai Kond in Dapoli from 1893 to 1896.

Key candidates to watch out for:

Mahayuti candidate Yogesh Kadam, who secured a victory from the Dapoli seat in 2019 Assembly polls, is once again in fray against Maha Vikas Aghadi's Sanjay Kadam. Also in contest is Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Santosh Abgul.

In the 2019 Assembly polls, Yogesh Kadam of the Shiv Sena had won the seat with 95,364 votes with a vote share of 51.31 per cent, defeating Sanjay Kadam of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), who received 81,786 votes.

In 2014, Sanjay Kadam of the NCP baggedthe seat with 52,907 votes and a vote share of 32.58 per cent, defeating Suryakant Dalvi of the Shiv Sena, who garnered 49,123 votes.

Polling and counting date:

The Dapoli Assembly constituency will vote on November 20 alongside all the other seats. The counting of votes will take place on November 23, together with the Jharkhand Assembly polls.
