Aadhav Arjuna, general secretary of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has triggered controversy after calling for a “Gen Z protest” in Tamil Nadu against what he described as a “wicked ruler.” The remarks were made in a post on X, which was later deleted, but screenshots of it are circulating widely on social media.
According to reports, the original post referenced youth-led uprisings in Nepal and Sri Lanka before being edited to remove those mentions. In Tamil, Aadhav Arjuna wrote: “A youth-led revolution is the only solution. Just as the youth and Gen Z revolted in Sri Lanka and Nepal against the ruling government, an uprising will also happen here.”
The timing of his remarks has come under sharp criticism, arriving just days after the stampede at TVK chief Vijay’s rally in Karur that left 41 people dead and several others injured. Leaders of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) accused Arjuna of inciting unrest and demanded immediate legal action.
DMK Women’s Wing social media coordinator Yazhini P M condemned the post, describing Arjuna as a “cyber terrorist” who repeatedly instigates young people. “The government must initiate stringent action against Aadhav Arjuna immediately,” she said on X.
The controversy adds to the political turbulence surrounding TVK, which is already under fire over the Karur tragedy and facing multiple FIRs against its senior leaders.
