Just hours before polling begins in Maharashtra, BJP's national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Congress leader Nana Patole and NCP leader Supriya Sule of being involvement in a cryptocurrency fraud to influence the election result in favour of the MVA.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Trivedi said, “This is a very serious and concerning. Facts have come to light which are exposing the true face of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) bit by bit. In my opinion, it is posing a serious question on how a free and fair election is being conducted."
The allegations came after claims by former IPS officer Ravindra Nath Patil, who alleged that Sule and Patole misappropriated bitcoins linked to a 2018 cryptocurrency fraud case to fund the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly elections.
In response, Supriya Sule strongly denied the accusations and filed a criminal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Cyber Crime Department, seeking action against the claims.
Taking to X, Sule labelled the allegations as “false information".
Familiar tactics of spreading false information to manipulate the righteous voters are being resorted to, a night before the polling day. We have filed a criminal complaint to the Honble ECI & the Cyber crime department against the fake allegations made of bitcoin pic.twitter.com/g8Selv1DFk
