The BJP on Friday slammed AAP MP Sanjay Singh for his comment on Lord Ram.
Singh, during a debate in the Rajya Sabha on the VB-G RAM G Bill, said that the BJP was bringing disrepute to Lord Ram's name by bringing the Bill in his name and removing Mahatma Gandhi's name from MGNREGA. "There is Ram in Haram. Why doesn't the BJP hold that word as holy?" he asked.
Terming the proposed law a “black legislation,” Singh warned that passing it would be a “historic mistake” and claimed that farmers and labourers would take to the streets in protest.
Bhubaneswar Kalita, who was in the Chair during the proceedings, expunged Singh's remark.
Reacting to the remark, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the AAP leader of insulting Hindu beliefs.
In a post on X, Bhandari said, “DISRESPECT and HATE for Hindu sentiments have sadly become the new normal. What’s worse—leaders of the INDI alliance are leading this rot from the front. An entire anti-Hindu ecosystem nurtured and emboldened by Rahul Gandhi.”

The Parliament on Friday cleared the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) or VB-G Ram G Bill, 2025, with the Rajya Sabha passing the legislation hours after its approval in the Lok Sabha, amid strong opposition protests and repeated demands for scrutiny by a parliamentary committee.
Reacting to Singh’s 'Ram in Haram' remark in Parliament, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said, “The Congress and its allied parties have never had faith in Lord Ram and have always engaged in appeasement politics.”
