The University of Manchester, UK, is inviting applications from Indian students for their LLM in Security and International Law for the 2024 session.
The LLM in Security and International Law from the University of Manchester allows students to develop advanced knowledge of the regulatory frameworks necessary to secure international relations and transactions between states, non-state entities, multinational companies, and individuals.
This course is premised on the idea that governing security at an international level requires not only the regulation of the use of force and methods of warfare, but also the regulation of international investments, international financial transactions, and intellectual property, the institute said in a statement.
With a duration of one year and a fee of £28,500 per annum, the course is based on small-group, seminar-style teaching by the varsity's research-active teaching staff, as well as external experts. The LLM course will typically offer around 30 different course units in any one year and will reflect a wide range of subjects across the legal spectrum.
Candidates who have completed a minimum of a three-year degree and obtained 'first class' from a reputable university are considered for postgraduate study in Law. The minimum requirement typically ranges from 60-80 percent overall, depending on the reputation of the university of prior study and grading scale.
Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in Law modules relevant to the course, including Public Law and Contract Law and achieve high scores in relevant modules.
The institute would be accepting candidates with an IELTS Academic test score of 7 overall, including 7 in writing with no further component score below 6.5, TOEFL IBT 100 with 25 in writing and no further score below 22 in each section. The TOEFL code for Manchester is 0757
Further, the Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 76 overall, with 76 in writing and no further score below 70 is required. In addition, English language scores from Indian Standard XII exams will also be accepted, depending on the Board and the overall score achieved.
“Few international legal issues are as complex, pressing and topical as those related to security in modern international law. This unique programme offers a deep dive into the realm of ever-evolving security issues across the discipline, giving students excellent employability prospects across diverse industries, and the knowledge and skills to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges,” said Dr Yusra Suedi, Lecturer in International Law.
There are several scholarships and bursaries available for International students like the Manchester Humanities International Excellence Scholarship, Humanities Postgraduate Indian Scholarships, and the Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships.
