'Mahakavi' Subramania Bharathi remembered

Puducherry, Sept 11 (PTI) Revolutionary and national poet Subramanya Bharathi was today remembered on the occasion of his 91st death anniversary today. Chief Minister N.Rangasamy, Assembly Speaker V.Sabapathy, Education Minister T.Thiagarajan, legislators and representatives of various Tamil organisations were among those who paid floral tributes at the statue of the poet. A team of Congress functionaries led by PCC leader A V Subramanian also garlanded the statue of Bharathi at the park named after him. The poet, whose revolutionary couplets made Puducherry his second home for 11 years when it was under the French regime. During the period, Bharathi penned a number of soul stirring patriotic songs.
