Vibrant Global Gujarat Summit: Tata Sons to set up lithium-ion battery facility in Sanand

The investment is set to occur in two phases, with work set to begin in the next couple of months.

Tata Sons will set up a factory to manufacture lithium-ion batteries in Sanand, northern Gujarat, with an initial manufacturing capacity of 20 gigawatt-hours, in a bid to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles, company Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran announced at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit today.

At the ongoing Summit, Chandrasekaran acknowledged Gujarat as the gateway to the future and outlined several commitments to expand its presence in the state.

"The impact of economic development has also resulted in tremendous social development. Gujarat has established itself as the gateway to the future," said Chandrasekaran at the summit.
