Nakul Aggarwal and Ritesh Arora, co-founders of BrowserStack and alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, have committed Rs 100 crore to their alma mater. The funds will be used to upgrade the institute’s campus infrastructure, with a major focus on improving student residential facilities.

"This contribution is among the largest philanthropic gestures by Indian startup founders towards an educational institution and is being seen as a landmark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the Indian startup ecosystem," the firm said in a statement on April 29.

Arora and Aggarwal graduated with B.Tech. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2006.

"As successful leaders in their space, they are known for their commitment to solving complex, global challenges through innovation. Their generous donation will be directed towards two major initiatives, Reconstruction of Hostel 6, where Ritesh and Nakul resided during their time at IIT Bombay and Project Evergreen is a comprehensive initiative to modernize Hostels 7, 8, and 21," the firm said in a statement,

IIT Bombay confirmed the funding and said it would significantly enhance the quality of student life on campus. The institute plans to use the funds to build new hostels and renovate existing accommodation to meet the growing demand for modern student housing.

"BrowserStack Co-founders Nakul Aggarwal & Ritesh Arora (CSE '06, H6) donate ₹100 cr to IIT Bombay! Their generous gift will rebuild Hostel 6 & modernize Hostels 7, 8 & 21. Grateful for their inspiring commitment to their alma mater." IT Bombay wrote on the social media platform X.

Founded in 2011, BrowserStack is a leading software testing platform with customers in over 135 countries. The startup achieved unicorn status in 2021 and has since become one of India’s most prominent SaaS success stories.
