Indian cricketer and former captain Virat Kohli and his actor-producer wife, Anushka Sharma, have jointly purchased a five acre land parcel in Alibaug for Rs 37.86 crore, according to property registration documents accessed by CRE Matrix.
The agreement was registered on January 13 and the couple paid a stamp duty of Rs 2.27 crore, documents show.
The transaction includes the sale of two adjacent plots in Zirad village near Alibaug in the Raigad district. The seller is Sonali Rajput, who is part of the promoter group of Samira Group, which has plotted development projects in the area.
In 2022, Kohli and Sharma acquired around eight acres in Alibaug from Samira Group, whose projects are branded under Samira Habitats, for Rs 19 crore on which they have set up a luxury home.
Samira Land Assets, part of the Samira Group, was the confirming party of the transaction, according to the documents.
The latest transaction is part of series of high-profile land deals in the Alibaug region, a popular seaside tourism destination close to Mumbai that has also emerged as a second-home hub for high net worth individuals.
Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Suhana Khan, who is the daughter of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan have properties in Alibaug, as do a host of prominent bankers, executives, and promoters of various companies.
Developers have also cashed in on the opportunity, setting up multiple plotted development or villa projects. The House of Abhinandan Lodha, Hiranandani Group, Lodha Developers, Neoliv and Avas Wellness along with a group of local developers and land aggregators are active in the area.
