Many farmer beneficiaries are eagerly awaiting the 22nd instalment of Rs 2,000 under the PM Kisan scheme. The government is yet to announce the date for the 22nd PM Kisan instalment. The 21st PM Kisan instalment was released in November 2025, and going by this timeline, the next instalment is expected between February and March 2026.
Under the PM Kisan scheme, landholding farmer families receive Rs 6,000 annually, paid in three equal instalments through direct benefit transfer. “eKYC is mandatory for PM Kisan-registered farmers. OTP-based eKYC is available on the PM Kisan portal, or nearest CSC centres may be contacted for biometric-based eKYC,” according to the PM Kisan website.
What is PM-KISAN scheme?
The PM-KISAN is a central sector scheme of the central government, launched by the Prime Minister in February 2019. The scheme provides income support to eligible landholding farmer families across the country, subject to prescribed exclusion criteria, to help meet agricultural, allied, and household expenses. Under PM-KISAN, beneficiaries receive Rs 6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.

Who may miss out on the next PM Kisan instalment?
The government has flagged certain cases that may fall under the exclusion criteria specified in the PM-Kisan scheme guidelines. These include farmers who acquired land ownership after February 1, 2019, and cases where more than one member of the same family is receiving benefits, such as both husband and wife, or an adult member.
In such cases, payments have been temporarily withheld until physical verification is completed. Farmers are advised to check their eligibility status through the Know Your Status (KYS) option on the PM Kisan website or mobile app, or via the Kisan eMitra chatbot, for more details.
