In partnership with ETS, an educational assessment organisation, and the NCERT, PARAKH today, February 22, presented its one-year progress report to the Ministry of Education.

As it moves into its second year, PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) is focused on preparing for the National Achievement Survey (NAS) and Foundational Learning Study (FLS) in 2024. The programme aims to adopt international standards to further refine assessment methods and expand stakeholder capacity building.

Established in February 2023, PARAKH was set up in the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as an independent constituent unit, to fulfil the basic objectives of setting norms, standards, and guidelines and implement activities related to student assessment along with other tasks as mandated by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In partnership with ETS, an educational assessment organisation, and the NCERT, PARAKH today, February 22, presented its one-year progress report to the Ministry of Education, showcasing its achievements in developing equivalence guidelines and standards for educational boards, thereby ensuring uniform academic quality nationwide.

The initiative has notably implemented standardized testing frameworks and introduced the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) for a comprehensive assessment of student learning and development, ETS said in a statement.

The past year saw PARAKH establishing a framework for student assessment across India's school boards, conducting the First State Educational Achievement Survey (SEAS) that involved over 8.4 million students in literacy and numeracy assessments across 19 languages.
