Maruti Suzuki launches first EV e Vitara SUV with battery rental scheme, shares rise 1%

Maruti Suzuki announced that it has commenced its sales of e VITARA BEV at an introductory Battery-as-a-service price of Rs 10.99 lakh.

The shares of Maruti Suzuki India gained more than 1 percent after the company announced the launch of its first electric vehicle with a battery rental plan in India.

The shares of India’s top automaker rose to Rs 15,211 apiece on Tuesday.

Maruti Suzuki announced in an exchange filling that it has commenced its sales of e VITARA BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) at an introductory Battery-as-a-service (BaaS) price of Rs 10.99 lakh. The company is also offering complimentary home charger and installation worth Rs 50,000, along with free charging for one year. The battery rental plan will cost Rs 3.99 per kilometer.

The new electric vehicle comes with eight year-warranty on battery and three year-warranty on the vehicle, with the option of increasing the warranty to five years with some additional payment.

“It features a High Capacity Battery with 120 Lithium-ion based cells, delivering exceptional range and reliability in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to 60°C. This robust platform features over 50% high-tensile steel, providing excellent structural rigidity. With a long wheelbase of 2700mm and short overhang, the platform boasts an impressive low turning radius of 5.2m aiding manoeuvrability, underlining its engineering excellence,” the brochure for the newly-launched car reads.

The vehicle is also equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS Level 2), featuring adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, adaptive high beam system, blind spot monitoring, among others.

Customers can book the newly launched electric vehicle with an initial payment of just Rs 21 000 at NEXA showrooms or by visiting the NEXA website.

The e Vitara SUV, developed under parent Suzuki Motor's global design and manufacturing partnership with Toyota, is being built in India since August last year. The company exported 13,000 units to 28 countries in 2025.
