Bharti Airtel has been penalized ₹2.13 lakh by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Karnataka LSA, for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. The company received the notice on September 15, 2025, at 1318 Hrs IST.
The penalty was imposed following a Customer Application Form (CAF) audit conducted by DoT for July 2025. The audit revealed alleged non-compliance with subscriber verification norms as outlined in the License Agreement.
Bharti Airtel is required to ensure thorough verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers and to adhere to the instructions issued by DoT. The company has opted not to contest the penalty and will pay the amount.
The maximum financial implication is limited to the penalty levied.
