The Kia Sonet launched at an introductory price of Rs 6.71 lakh in August and the company has just announced that 50,000 bookings have already been made.
The third model in Kia’s India lineup, the Sonet has already been making waves across the country. Sales of the Sonet in September amounted to 9,266 units, close to the top-10 selling cars for that month.
"The company received a staggering response from Indian consumers, with an average of two orders placed every three minutes since it started accepting bookings," Kia Motors India said. Out of these, 60 percent are bookings made for the petrol engines while the rest are for the diesel option.
The Kia Sonet has some of the best ss available in the compact SUV segment, with several feature firsts. The Sonet is available in three engine options and four transmission options, including the intelligent manual transmission that made its debut on the Hyundai Venue SUV.
In terms of competition, the Kia Sonet goes up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser. With a starting price of Rs 6.71 lakh, the Kia Sonet’s top spec trim is priced at Rs 12.89 lakh.
