Reliance Power is expected to see strong earnings in June quarter on commissioning of Sasan UMPP. Consolidated profit after tax is seen rising 22.7 percent year-on-year to Rs 300 crore and revenue may jump 62.6 percent to Rs 2,850 crore during the quarter.
Operating profit in Q1 is likely to increase 100.6 percent to Rs 1,273 crore and margin may expand 850 basis points to 44.7 percent compared to year-ago period, according to a CNBC-TV18 poll.
The big highlight of this quarter will be the fact that Q1FY16’s profit & loss started capturing the financials for 3,960 MW Sasan UMPP (which means earnings may get consolidated) along with Rosa and Butibori. So the earnings may show a dramatic jump both on yearly and sequential basis.
For Sasan, Nomura expects the plant to make profit of Rs 70 crore on revenue of Rs 940 crore while Kotak estimates profit contribution at around Rs 48 crore for the quarter.
For Rosa, plant availability factor (PAF) is seen at 98 percent and plant load factor (PLF) at 81 percent while for Butibori, PAF is seen at 95 percent and PLF at 84 percent for the quarter.
Generation may be doubled Y-o-Y to around 10.2 billion units mainly due to full commissioning of the 3,960 MW-Sasan UMPP, which has started reflecting in the P&L from FY16. Subsequently, depreciation and interest expenses are expected to see sharp Y-o-Y jump and lead to toning down of the profit growth on a Y-o-Y (also on a Q-o-Q basis).
Other Income may be largely in line with the recent run rate.
