In a key move in the world of Big 4 firms, veteran deal maker Vivek Gupta has moved on from KPMG to join rival Deloitte as the Transactions and One FS (Financial Services) Tax Leader for South Asia.
Gupta shared the development in a LinkedIn post on March 30.
Gupta was a Partner and National Head (M&A tax and PE tax) at KPMG for a period of more than seven years.
"Grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the India growth story with Deloitte across m&a, PE, deals and the entire financial services ecosystem. To build to being the undisputed leader in the deals space across geographies is our avowed goal ," his LinkedIn post said.
Gupta, an alumnus of SRCC (Delhi) has over 28 years of experience , with earlier stints at BMR Advisors , Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.
Deloitte has moved to poach several other senior partners and executives from KPMG , including Rohit Berry, National Head ( Deal Advisory), according to reports.
On December 16, Moneycontrol had reported that Chirag Agrawal had quit EY and was headed to Deloitte as the latter's new head of corporate finance.

Romal Shetty's Deloitte strategy
Romal Shetty came on board for a four-year term as CEO, Deloitte South Asia, starting April 1, 2023.
In October, as part of an expansion plan, Deloitte picked up PwC network firms in Sri Lanka and Maldives. The deal, one of the largest such combination deals in the region, involved 28 partners and 800 people, according to Reuters.
Alluding to the growth plans of Deloitte in a recent interview to Business Today, Shetty said the firm is looking to hire as many as 40,000 to 50,000 people over the next 4-5 years. It currently has a workforce of around 1.2 lakh in India.
A cricket buff, Shetty who is based out of Bengaluru, joined Deloitte India in May 2017.
