Bharti Hexacom Q1 results: Net profit up 102% at Rs 511 crore

Bharti Hexacom has reported a net profit of Rs 511 crore for the June quarter, up 101.9 percent from the year-ago period, led by smartphone additions, improvement in subscriber mix and an increase in ARPU.

Revenue came in at Rs 1,911 crore, up 13.6 percent. Mobile services revenue was up 12.9 percent from the previous year, the company said in an exchange filing on August 5.

The average revenue per user (ARPU) for the quarter improved to Rs 205 from Rs 194, driven by continued mix improvement and focus on quality acquisitions.

The homes and office business continued on a strong growth trajectory, with revenue increasing 21.1 percent YoY, led by customer additions.

Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at Rs 912 crore and the EBITDA margin at 47.7 percent, down 313 basis points (bps) from the previous year.

One basis point is one-hundredth of a percentage point.

EBIT was at Rs 416 crore and the margin at 21.8 percent, a decline of 443 bps.

Bharti Hexacom offers consumer mobile services, fixed-line telephone and broadband services under the brand Airtel to customers in the Rajasthan and the Northeast telecommunication circles, which comprises Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

The Bharti Hexacom stock ended the day at Rs  1,111.20 on the National Stock Exchange, down 3.24 percent ahead of the results.
