Love the clink of bangles but forgot when you last wore them? It is time to pull them out of your wardrobe or even better buy new ones. The hand ornament is back in vogue. And if your feed hasn’t shown you reels of these dazzling beauties, take a look below to see why they are trending.

Indian bangles make a splash

Indian bangles are making a splash on the internet, with many reels suggesting markets where you can buy them at affordable rates. There are also videos encouraging men to gift a box of colourful, glittering bangles to their partners.

Why are Indian bangles trending?

Digital creator Pranati Choudhary, who decodes Internet trends and shifts on her Instagram account, talked about the surprising switch. “Why are Indian bangles suddenly all over your feed? No, it’s not random. The internet didn’t discover bangles, it has just caught up,” she said.

She explained how bangles are now part of the aesthetic shift happening in real time, where people are ditching minimalism for maximalism. "From the clean‑girl aesthetic and minimal looks to now the gold‑girl aesthetic: chunky earrings, stacked bangles, heavy bracelets, and ornaments that make noise when you move. And the same thing that was once massy is now global,” she added.

While bangles have always been a treasured part of many people’s childhood, they are now making a return. This is because people have begun to value the beauty of good old times, where culture was evident in everyday life.

She explained, ”The internet is done with minimalism. It's craving drama, sound, texture, and movement. If you look around, flip phones are back, 90s makeup is trending, and this isn’t random, it is actually called “nostalgia economy”.”

So everything once labelled as old-fashioned has become part of the modern aesthetic. She added that bangles are no longer just jewellery, for many, they are sound, memory, weddings, mothers getting ready, and culture you can hear. “The algorithm, of course, didn't make them trendy, it just finally zoomed in.”
