For those who plan their outfits in advance and those who leave it at the last minute, there’s plenty of perceptions to deal with. Pre-planned outfits are typically associated with discipline, while making decisions at the last moment is viewed as careless.
However, this assumption is fast changing and no longer reflects how people live, work, or dress today. In a fast-paced world that demands constant adaptability and availability, last-minute dressing is no longer a vice but a practical and informed choice.

Arun Kumar, Founder of Booon, a quick commerce fashion platform, said, “The context of our time dictates our clothing: what we need, what we are in, and the mood we are in. These considerations are capable of altering in a night. It is a method of matching the looks with current demands as opposed to the expectations of the past.”
No one has to restrict themselves to what’s already in the wardrobe and opt for something they feel like in the moment, thanks to fast business. “Having increased speed in delivery, convenient access to the necessities, and access on demand, individuals are able to make considerate clothing decisions much nearer to the moment without sacrificing quality or motive. This access facilitates flexibility where dressing choices can be timely and considered,” Kumar noted.
This speaks well of last-minute dressers, as they normally know their style, and what suits them. Having access to versatile pieces, both of which are owned or ready to be obtained, decision-making becomes effective, but not rushed.
Last-minute dressing often minimises overthinking, as excessive planning can create unnecessary doubt and repeated reworking. Kumar said, “Choosing closer to the moment brings clarity, what feels right today and suits the present mood resulting in confident, effortless decisions. This spontaneity also encourages creativity, making outfits feel more genuine, natural, and aligned with the wearer’s state of mind.”
“Rather than rejecting preparation, last-minute dressing reflects a different kind of readiness: an awareness of personal style, a flexible wardrobe, and the ability to respond when needed. In this context, intent matters more than time.”
In a fast-changing world, last-minute dressing often stems from the need to shop for a specific occasion. Platforms that cater to party wear, evening gatherings, or wedding attire effectively address this growing demand for quick, occasion-based solutions.
