Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally spoken openly about his divorce from actor and choreographer Dhanashree Verma, drawing a clear line under a chapter that, according to him, no longer defines his present or future. In a candid and measured conversation, the leg-spinner made it clear that he has emotionally moved on and is focused on living life without bitterness or baggage.

Reflecting on the separation, Chahal described the marriage as a phase that has ended, both legally and emotionally. “It was a chapter in my life, which is over now. I’ve left that space now. I don’t want to remain stuck there,” he said, adding that he sees no value in reopening old wounds. For Chahal, peace and forward momentum matter more than revisiting the past.

Addressing speculation around lingering resentment, the cricketer stressed that both he and Dhanashree are in a good place today. “I’m happy in my life, she’s happy in hers. What is one going to get by making someone miserable?” he said, underlining that closure, for him, means mutual acceptance rather than public blame.

The divorce attracted intense public attention after reports claimed Chahal was required to pay Rs 4 crore as alimony. Fuel was added to the fire when he briefly shared an Instagram Story referencing a Delhi High Court ruling on alimony, a post that was later deleted. Around the same time, a light-hearted social media exchange with fellow cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was interpreted by many as a subtle reference to the controversy.

Chahal also found himself at the centre of backlash after wearing a “Be your own sugar daddy” T-shirt during court proceedings. The move triggered harsh online commentary, with sections of social media unfairly targeting Dhanashree with labels and assumptions. While Chahal did not directly address the trolling, his recent comments suggest he wants no part in narratives that thrive on negativity.

Speaking to Mashable India, Chahal revealed that emotionally, the matter ended the moment the legal process concluded. “For me, it was done and dusted the day I stepped out of the courtroom,” he said, making it clear that closure did not require time or theatrics.

Post-divorce, Chahal was frequently spotted with radio jockey and actor RJ Mahvash, leading to speculation about a new relationship. The cricketer dismissed the rumours, clarifying that he is “happily single” and that the women he is seen with are close friends.

He also revealed that he briefly explored the invite-only dating app Raya but quickly opted out. “I didn’t really get the concept of dating apps,” he admitted. For now, Chahal seems content focusing on his career, personal growth, and a life unburdened by the past, firmly closing the door on a chapter he considers complete.
