Actor-activist Renu Desai has issued a strong warning to online trolls who continue to drag her past with ex-husband Pawan Kalyan into public conversations. The actor said she is done staying silent and will now pursue legal action against those who cross the line with abusive and defamatory remarks.
Renu addressed the issue through a recent video shared on social media, following what she described as a fresh wave of online harassment. The trolling reportedly intensified after she participated in a January press conference discussing street dog attacks. According to her, the conversation quickly shifted from the issue at hand to personal attacks targeting her past and her divorce.
Sharing the video, Renu wrote, "Now if I come across any abuses for me, I am not going to leave you! I will make sure that the cyber police finds out where you live and get you arrested! Enough is enough now with the senseless abusing (sic)." She made it clear that she intends to take strict legal recourse against those using profane or threatening language.
In the video, Renu expressed anguish over the nature of some of the comments directed at her. "Do you have no conscience? You’re calling me a rabies l***a and hoping dogs bite my private parts. What kind of language is this? I won’t stay calm anymore. I will use my influence and come to your homes, tell your parents what you’ve done," she said, visibly upset.
Reflecting on the scrutiny she has faced since her divorce in 2012, Renu said, "I have heard all kinds of things being said about me, especially since my divorce in 2012. You have covered every aspect of my personal life and commented on how much alimony I’ve supposedly taken or joined a political party. I thought there was nothing left to be said about me."
Renu and Pawan Kalyan married in 2009 after being in a relationship for several years. They have two children together. The couple separated in 2012, and Kalyan later remarried. Despite moving on in their personal lives, references to their marriage continue to surface online, often used to target Renu during unrelated public appearances.
Speaking about the recent controversy, Renu said, "When they held a press meet on the street dog issue in January, I initially declined because I knew I would be constantly criticised. And yet, instead of understanding what I’ve said, you’ve turned it into a circus. I was trolled yet again. Tell me you don’t like my acting, my work, that is freedom of speech. But every single time you bring up my personal life."
Through her statements, Renu underscored that criticism of her professional work is acceptable, but personal abuse will no longer be tolerated. She has now drawn a firm line, warning that continued harassment will invite legal consequences.
