Chinnu Pappu, whose real name was Reshma, was a 24-year-old social media creator from Adhur in Kasaragod district, Kerala. Coming from a rural background, she built a strong online presence through short, relatable videos rooted in everyday life. Over time, her Instagram account crossed 206,000 followers, making her one of the more recognisable regional influencers from the area.

Reshma was found dead in her rented house at Uliyathadka, close to Kasaragod town, on Monday afternoon. Neighbours noticed something was wrong around noon and alerted others nearby. They rushed her to a hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead. Police informed her parents around 2 pm.

Marriage, Divorce, and a Young Child

Reshma had married for love, according to people familiar with the family. However, the marriage ended in divorce just a month before her death. The separation was recent and had reportedly taken a toll on her personal life. She is survived by her four-year-old child, who is now staying with Reshma’s parents at their home in Adhur.

Friends and neighbours described her as soft-spoken and focused on her work, especially in the weeks after the divorce. The suddenness of her death has left her family and local community in shock.

Chinnu Pappu’s Social Media Life

Online, Chinnu Pappu was known for celebrating rural culture. Her content often featured village routines, local food, lesser-known places in and around Kasaragod, and casual conversations in the Tulu language. This authenticity helped her connect deeply with followers, many of whom saw their own lives reflected in her videos.

She usually posted once every week or so. Her last Instagram post, shared six days before her death, was about a leafy vegetable commonly used in local cooking. The reel received close to 6,000 likes and several warm comments, none hinting at the tragedy that would follow.

Shock and Investigation

News of Reshma’s death spread quickly, both online and offline. Fellow content creator Gopikrishna, known for car and tech reels, wrote that it was hard to believe someone who smiled so often on camera was gone so suddenly. Similar messages poured in from followers who remembered her for her calm presence and grounded storytelling.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and begun an investigation. An autopsy has been ordered, after which Reshma’s body will be handed over to her family for last rites.
