In the early 1990s, Bollywood was ruled by actresses like Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Pooja Bhatt. Around the same time, another young face entered the film industry — Pratibha Sinha. She was the daughter of popular actress Mala Sinha, and many believed she would have a bright future in films.
Pratibha made her Bollywood debut with the film Mehboob Mere Mehboob. The movie did not do well at the box office, but she continued to get work.
In 1996, she appeared in the blockbuster Raja Hindustani, starring Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor. She was seen in the famous song Pardesi Pardesi, which became extremely popular. Though her role was small, her performance was noticed. Many people thought she would go on to have a long career in the industry.
However, things did not turn out that way.
During the recording of the song Aashiqui Is More, Pratibha reportedly met music composer Nadeem Saifi. Over time, they grew close. Soon, their relationship became the talk of the industry. At that time, Nadeem was already married and had children. This made the situation more complicated. Pratibha’s mother Mala Sinha was not happy with the relationship. She was worried about her daughter’s future and career.
Reports suggested that Pratibha and Nadeem became very serious about each other. There were even rumours that she had left home for him. Mala Sinha reportedly tried to separate them and even approached political leader Bal Thackeray for help.

A press conference was also held where serious allegations were made against Nadeem. The matter created a lot of controversy in Bollywood.
In 1997, the murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar shocked the entire country. During the investigation, Nadeem Saifi’s name also surfaced.
He denied all allegations and claimed he was in London at the time of the incident. The case took a dramatic turn and remained in the headlines for a long time. Later, the court stated that there was no proof of conspiracy against him.
Amid all this controversy, Pratibha’s career suffered badly. After doing a few more films, she slowly disappeared from the film industry. She did not return to mainstream cinema. Over the years, she stayed away from the limelight. According to reports, she never married and chose to live a private life.
Pratibha Sinha’s story is often remembered as one of lost opportunities in Bollywood. She entered the industry with promise and talent, but personal controversies and difficult circumstances affected her journey. Today, many still remember her for the song Pardesi Pardesi, but her career remains a brief chapter in the history of Hindi cinema.
