Filming for the highly anticipated sequel Border 2 has officially begun, with Varun Dhawan joining the impressive cast in Madhya Pradesh.

Actor Varun Dhawan has officially begun filming for Border 2, the much-awaited sequel to JP Dutta's 1997 war drama Border, as announced by the makers on Thursday.

TSeries Films took to Instagram to share the update along with a photo of Varun Dhawan, Bhushan Kumar and others. The caption read, Action, grit, and patriotism!
Actor Varun Dhawan begins the #Border2 journey in the scenic cantonment areas of Jhansi with Producers Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, Co-producer Shiv Chanana and director Anurag Singh leading the way. January 23, 2026— Get ready for an unforgettable saga!


Set in the remote armed forces cantonment areas of Jhansi, the film promises to showcase the raw emotion, heroism, and intensity that have made the franchise so beloved.

Veteran actor Sunny Deol is reprising his role in the sequel, directed by Anurag Singh. The film also features Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, with production support from Dutta and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

Border 2 boasts a powerhouse production team, with Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta at the helm. Directed by Anurag Singh and presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in collaboration with JP Dutta’s J.P. Films, the sequel is set to deliver a gripping narrative of patriotism, bravery, and sacrifice. Border 2 prepares for its grand release on January 23, 2026.

The makers describe Border 2 as a film set against a backdrop of patriotism and bravery, promising to deliver unmatched action, intense drama, and emotional depth. The original Border, which depicted a crucial chapter from the 1971 India-Pakistan war, became a box office success upon its release in June 1997.

The film featured an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, and Puneet Issar. Its supporting cast included Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.
