Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 1: Ranveer Singh's action thriller opens at Rs 27 Cr net, beats Saiyaara and Sikandar

Dhurandhar started strong at the box office

Ranveer Singh starrer action thriller Dhurandhar released in the theatres with a strong note, entering the list of the biggest openers of 2025. The film has also received positive reviews from critics and the audience.

According to a trade website, Dhurandhar earned Rs 27 crore net in India on its first day, December 5. The film registered an overall 33.81% occupancy in the Hindi language, with 15.49% footfalls in morning shows, 28.24% in afternoon shows, 35.59% in evening shows, and 55.90% in night shows.

Interestingly, Dhurandhar has officially beaten Sikandar, which opened at Rs 26 Crore net in India, to become the third biggest opener of the year. The film left behind just a few crores to beat Chhaava and become the biggest opener of 2025.

The trade website reported that Chhaava had earned Rs 31 crore net in India on its first day of release. Meanwhile, War 2 is the second biggest opener of the year, earning Rs 29 crore net in India in Hindi.

The film performed well at the box office, and fans have been expecting Dhurandhar to have a similar performance.

About Dhurandhar 

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh in the central role of Hamza Ali, an undercover operative planted inside the Pakistani mafia by IB chief Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan). The film marks the first collaboration between Ranveer and Aditya.

The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.

The film is about an underworld saga following a network of criminals, informants and operatives whose lives intersect, navigating covert operations, espionage and betrayals.

‘Dhurandhar’ unfolds across an extended time frame and opens with the IC 814 Kandahar hijacking, an incident that shook the nation and caught intelligence agencies off guard. The story then moves into the aftermath, where the IB formulates a strategy to counter the rising tide of extremism. Divided into chapters, the film structures its progression neatly and manages to maintain clarity despite its length. It does manage to carve a distinct space for itself within the genre.
