Actor Ishu Tomar is known for his roles in shows such as Pukaar and Har Bahu Ki Yahi Kahani Sasumaa Ne Meri Kadar Na Jaani. He joined the cast of the Star Plus show Shehzadi… Hai Tu Dil Ki, in which he essays the role of Bhanu, the abusive husband of Deepa, played by Ashika Padukone.
The show also stars Ankit Raizada as the male lead. Ishu has stepped into the role following the exit of actor Ali Reza. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol to, Ishu shared his experience on the show.
Talking about the show, Ishu shared, “What I like most about my character is his fearlessness and natural dominance—he owns the space without trying too hard. However, I’d make him more psychologically dominant—someone you can’t defeat with violence, only with intelligence if given a chance to change certain traits of my character.”
When asked about handling creative differences, Ishu averred, “I adapt based on the medium. Television works on tight schedules, so clarity and execution are key. Films usually allow more time to explore layers and details. I respect both processes. My approach is simple—serve the story, support the director’s vision, and stay flexible.”
Ishu also shared details of his bond with his co-actors. He mentioned, “It’s a professional yet warm bond—respectful, supportive, and focused on the work. The set has a very friendly vibe, so bonding was easy. I’ve shared more scenes and time with Ankit and Ashika, which automatically builds a closer connection.”
Shedding light on the show not dominating the TRP charts and what works in favour of the show, he elaborated, “What works most is the emotional connection. A strong story, combined with the right pace and relatable moments, makes the show feel personal to the audience. I’m relatively new to the show, so it wouldn’t be right for me to comment on TRP comparisons. What I believe is that every show takes its own time to find a connection with the audience. With the right pacing, strong storytelling, and proper use of characters, that bond eventually builds.”
He added, “From my perspective, building emotional depth along with suspense can really elevate the show. When scenes are allowed to breathe instead of resolving too quickly, the audience gets involved in what happens next. Emotional investment keeps them connected, and suspense makes them come back for the next episode.”
