MasterChef India will soon return with the fourth season, bringing new stories that reflect India’s cultural strength, evolving relationships, and national pride rooted in tradition.

One such inspiring journey comes from Bundelkhand, where Vishnu Purohit and his daughter-in-law, Harshini Awasthi Purohit, arrive on the MasterChef stage carrying not just flavours, but generations of belief and discipline.

The sasur–bahu jodi, which originated in Jhansi, pays a moving homage to the satvik culinary philosophy of Bundelkhand. Cooking since 1971, Vishnu Purohit started out as a student who prepared meals for himself before gradually transforming his love into a vocation.

Joining the family in 2023, Harshini Purohit offers a contemporary yet profoundly respected viewpoint. Her passion for cooking started in childhood and intensified under her father-in-law's guidance. She is a PhD candidate in social intelligence.

Chef Kunal Kapur was moved by the duo and said, “We’ve heard of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pairs, but this is the first time we’re seeing a father-in-law and daughter-in-law duo.”

Chef Ranveer Brar added, “You are standing like a daughter, not a daughter-in-law. The country is changing, and this is a reflection of that change.”

Vishnu Purohit talked about his journey and experience and said, “I have been cooking since 1971, not for fame, but to keep our values alive. Coming to MasterChef India is my way of showing that simple, satvik traditions still have a strong place in today’s India and take it to international audience as well.”

Harshani Awasthi Purohit added, “For me, this journey is about carrying forward a legacy with respect and confidence. MasterChef India gives us a platform to represent Bundelkhand, our culture, and the pride of our home on a national stage.”

MasterChef India will premiere from January 5 and air every Monday to Friday, on Sony Entertainment Television and the Sony Liv app.
