Embracing the “2026 is the new 2016" trend, well-known in the TV sector, Ankita Lokhande reflected on 2016 as ‘the hardest phase of my life’. She reflected on the moment that shattered her entirely and transformed her eternally.

To refresh your memory, it was in 2016 that Ankita and the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly ended their relationship after several years of being together.

While Ankita didn't explicitly state anything in her post, she might be alluding to her emotional pain following her separation from Sushant. Reflecting on what she called the most challenging period of her life, Ankita posted on her Instagram, ‘2016 ki yaadein. The toughest chapter of my life. A year that tested me, broke me quietly, and changed me forever. And today, I only feel grateful and proud of how far I have come from there to here. My first ever Instagram post. Realizing I’ve always been a family girl… then, now, forever…

Scotch is my biggest support, my strength, my dog, my constant, and my home. Thanking him always for being there through every low, every tear, every silent breakdown. I miss him dearly, my biggest happiness and the only one that year who kept me going.

Missing aajoba and grateful for aajjs endless love. The thinnest waist era (still holding on, hehe). Endless photoshoots. Quiet innocence... Obsessed with grids, details, and moments that felt small but meant everything.

Saree love remains always. Angel chairs, backless glow, and all those bittersweet memories... Somewhere in that chaos, I found myself again slowly and honestly. This 2016 throwback is a reminder to pause, look back, and appreciate yourself first. You survived. You grew. And you kept your heart intact.’
