Known for his disciplined lifestyle and preference for simple living, Akshay Kumar opened up about his love for traditional Indian food in an upcoming episode of Wheel of Fortune India. During a lively conversation with guest Viraj Gehlani, the actor also joked about the modern obsession with expensive global food trends such as avocado and truffle mushroom pasta.

Viraj, who comes from a Gujarati family, spoke about the structured food routine followed in his home while growing up. Sharing a glimpse into his childhood, he said, “Main Gujarati family se aata hoon. Hamare ghar mein routine hota hai: Monday ko tuar ki daal, Tuesday normal, Wednesday moong ki daal, Friday kadhi, aur Saturday ko urad ki daal.”

Hearing this instantly brought a smile to Akshay’s face as he expressed how much he enjoys Gujarati cuisine. Reacting to Viraj’s story, he said, “Yaar Gujarati khana mereko bahut maza aata hai. Mereko toh Gujarati thali bhi bahut sahi lagti hai.”

Viraj further explained that eating traditional food was a part of everyday life in his home. “Season ho toh undhiyu bhi ban jaata hai,” he added.

However, he humorously pointed out how his diet has changed after marriage. Talking about the contrast, Viraj joked, “But ever since I am married, I eat avocado on Monday and sourdough bread on Tuesday.”

Akshay found the comparison between traditional home food and modern food habits quite amusing. Sharing his perspective, he said, “Woh jo life thi na, jo undhiyu, jo tuar ki daal, usme jo mazza hai na… humara Hindustani khana hai jo, Gujarati thali ka jo maza hai, edamame aur baaki kisi aur cheez mein nahi hai.”

The banter continued as Viraj spoke about how he now often finds himself eating international dishes. “I eat Truffle Mushroom Pasta, sir. It’s so expensive… I don’t even like it, but my wife says you have to eat. Now you are sitting with big people.”

Amused by the situation, Akshay jokingly asked, “So what’s the benefit of eating this?” to which Viraj laughed and replied, “Sir, it’s so expensive. I don’t know what the benefit is of eating this.”

The conversation soon turned even funnier when they spoke about how unfamiliar they once were with certain modern “superfoods.” Viraj joked, “Meri mummy ko pata nahi tha avocado kya hota hai. Sab log kiwi samajhkar khaate the.”

Akshay admitted he had a similar experience. “Actually mujhe bhi nahi pata tha avocado kya hota hai, baad mein jaake pata chala ki woh ek kamaal ka fruit hai,” he said.

Adding another humorous twist, Viraj revealed how marriage had even changed the way he speaks. “English bolna seekh gaya main. Mereko nahi aata tha English. Now I’m preposterous and obnoxious. I talk like this, sir.”

Relating to the story, Akshay laughed and replied, “Pata nahi par teri kahani mere se thodi bahut milti julti hai. English ki baat aati hai toh mera bhi thoda haath baitha hai.”
