Radhika Madan, known for her remarkable journey from television to films, recently opened up about how the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput inspired her to pursue a career in Bollywood. In an interview with Curly Tales, the actress recalled how Sushant’s own transition from TV to the big screen made her believe that it was possible for her too.
Radhika shared that during her early days, her TV show set was located right next to Sushant’s. Although they never met, seeing his journey from a television actor to starring in acclaimed films like Kai Po Che! and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story gave her hope. “Us time aisa lagta tha ki Sushant chala gaya toh main bhi jaa sakti hoon,” she said, reflecting on her belief that she could follow a similar path.
The Angrezi Medium actress revealed that she got her first break with the television show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. She was just 17 years old when she was selected for the role. “I got selected and the auditions were happening in Delhi. I was called by the show’s team overnight and asked to come to Mumbai for a look test,” she recalled. To her surprise, she was offered a salary of Rs 1 lakh per month, which left both her and her father in disbelief. “Papa said isko kisi ne scam kar diya hai,” she laughed, recalling her father’s reaction.
Radhika has since built a solid career in the film industry, with performances in films like Pataakha, Shiddat, and Angrezi Medium receiving praise. Most recently, she appeared in Sarfira opposite Akshay Kumar. Although the film didn’t do well at the box office, her performance was appreciated by both critics and audiences.
Through her heartfelt words, Radhika paid tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput, crediting his journey as a key motivator in her own transition to films. Her story is a testament to how representation and inspiration can come from simply witnessing someone take a leap—and succeed.
