Actor Sunny Deol finds himself in legal hot water as producer Sourav Gupta has filed a case against him at the Juhu police station, alleging cheating and forgery. Gupta, a builder-turned-producer, claims to have paid substantial amounts of money to Deol for a film project initially signed in 2016, as well as covering expenses for
various technicians involved in the production. Deol has declined to
comment on the allegations, but his lawyer is scheduled to address the
press today.
Sourav Gupta, represented by lawyer Ashok Saraogi, alleges that Deol
was signed for a film in 2016 with an initial signing amount of Rs 1
crore, which eventually increased to around Rs 5 crore. ETimes quotes
Saraogi, "My client is a well-reputed builder who decided to enter the
entertainment industry. He met some people and decided to produce a
film with Sunny Deol. The actor agreed to work with the team, and a
signing amount of Rs 1 crore was paid to him, which eventually
increased to about Rs 5 crore."
The relationship between Gupta and Deol soured when the actor
allegedly started making excuses to delay the project. Saraogi stated,
"One fine day, Sunny Deol told them that the story was stale and he
did not remember giving the dates to the producer. He insisted on
doing a new movie with a new subject, leading to additional payments."
Gupta claims this scenario occurred three times, with Deol
continuously asking for more money and making new demands.

Following the success of 'Gadar 2', Deol reportedly requested an
increase in his remuneration and suggested a new film idea based on
the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi case, where he wished to play the role of
a lawyer. Saraogi mentioned that Deol was summoned by the Juhu police
about ten days ago but excused himself, citing that he was out of
town.
Producer Sourav Gupta expressed his frustration, stating that Deol
frequently made excuses not to proceed with the film. "Sunny made
excuses not to do the film, and in between worked on films like
'Poster Boys', 'Bhaiyyaji Superhit', and directed his son in 'Pal Pal
Dil Ke Paas', while also becoming an MP," Gupta said. He further
claimed that each time Deol wanted to change the writer or director,
Gupta honoured his demands. In 2023, Deol proposed another film idea
based on the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi case, once again asking for money.
Gupta also revealed that Deol had requested Rs 50 lakhs just before
his son's wedding, which he paid. These repeated financial demands and
Deol's alleged evasive behaviour led Gupta to file a case, seeking
justice and recouping the substantial amounts invested.
