As Bollywood continues to mourn the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are honouring his legacy with a heartfelt tribute ahead of the release of his final film, Ikkis. The Deol brothers are set to host a special screening of the war drama in Mumbai on December 29, bringing together industry figures, media and close associates to celebrate the late star’s last theatrical appearance.
Ikkis, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, tells the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s youngest recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, and is scheduled for theatrical release on January 1, 2026. The film features budding actors Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia in leading roles, as well as Dharmendra in a key part — marking his final on-screen performance before his passing on November 24, 2025.
The screening is not just a promotional event but a deeply emotional moment for the Deol family. It will be the first time Sunny and Bobby publicly address the media since Dharmendra’s death, underlining the personal significance of the occasion. As part of their tribute, the brothers aim to honour their father’s unparalleled contribution to Indian cinema and invite audiences to remember the iconic actor through his last work.
Director Raghavan previously shared that Dharmendra was able to view only the first half of Ikkis due to his failing health and had hoped to watch the entire film before his passing — a wish that remained unfulfilled, adding to the emotional weight of its release.
In Ikkis, Dharmendra portrays the father of Agastya Nanda’s character, offering audiences a poignant final glimpse of the veteran in a narrative that blends courage, sacrifice, and historical depth. With its blend of real-life heroism and cinematic craftsmanship, the film stands as a fitting farewell to one of Indian cinema’s most enduring stars.
