Smriti Mandhana once again captured hearts after leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women to their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title. As congratulatory messages poured in celebrating the team’s historic triumph, one reaction in particular grabbed widespread attention — that of Smriti’s mother.

A day after the WPL final, a social media meme page shared a post on Friday that made fun of Smriti’s strong performance. The meme joked that, while she was facing the Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers, it looked like she was seeing her ex Palash’s face in all of them.

To add to the viral moment, Smita Mandhana, Smriti’s mother, reposted the meme on her Instagram account, seemingly approving it. The repost quickly drew the attention of internet users, sparking a wave of reactions across social media.

While several users applauded the humour and called it a “savage move,” others questioned whether the repost was accidental. One comment read, “WTH, Smriti’s mom reposted this.” Another user wrote, “Smriti's mother reposted the post cooking Palash.” Yet another reaction said, “I am in awe of savage aunty. She cooked with this.”

On the field, Smriti Mandhana delivered a sensational performance in the WPL 2026 final, guiding RCB Women to a six-wicket win over DC Women on Thursday.

She was named Player of the Match for her blistering knock of 87 runs off just 41 balls. It later emerged that the star batter had been battling a 103-degree fever the night before the final. With this victory, RCB clinched their second consecutive WPL title.

Off the field, Smriti and Palash had previously made headlines after their wedding was reportedly called off on the day of the ceremony in Smriti’s hometown of Sangli. While the pre-wedding festivities had already begun, the wedding was cancelled just hours before the nuptials.

Although several rumours surfaced at the time, including speculation about Palash allegedly cheating, neither Smriti Mandhana nor Palash has addressed the issue or made any public comments regarding the matter.
