Shefali Jariwala was fasting on the day of death, ate leftover food before collapsing, reveal husband Parag Tyagi, report

Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, fondly remembered as the "Kaanta Laga girl," passed away at the age of 42 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. The incident occurred late Friday night, with her husband Parag Tyagi and three others rushing her to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Mumbai. Unfortunately, doctors declared her brought dead upon arrival.

According to initial reports, Shefali was observing a religious fast on Sunday in connection with a Satyanarayan Pooja held at the couple’s residence. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, informed the police that she had collapsed after consuming food prepared a day earlier, shortly after breaking her fast.

Parag, who was seen exiting the hospital in a visibly distraught state, provided a detailed statement to the authorities. He mentioned that Shefali had no prior serious health issues and that the incident came as a complete shock. The police have also recorded statements from other family members, who confirmed that Shefali had been in her usual cheerful spirit in the days leading up to the tragedy.

Investigators at the scene found two boxes containing anti-ageing tablets, skin glow supplements, and vitamin pills. A police officer told Hindustan Times that the family admitted Shefali had been taking these supplements without a doctor’s prescription, though they insisted she had never experienced any side effects from them.

“Shefali used these supplements as part of her wellness routine,” a family member shared during questioning. “She was particular about her appearance but never took anything harmful or unsafe as far as we know.”

The sudden and untimely demise of Shefali has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. Known for her electrifying performance in the music video “Kaanta Laga,” Shefali became a household name in the early 2000s. She later appeared in Bollywood films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and the Kannada hit Hudugaru. On television, she was well-received in reality shows such as Nach Baliye, Boogie Woogie, and Bigg Boss 13, where she emerged as a fan favorite.

Shefali was previously married to musician Harmeet Singh from the Meet Brothers duo before tying the knot with Parag Tyagi in 2015. Tyagi, a well-known television actor, earned fame through serials like Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar.

Authorities are awaiting the final post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. A preliminary report has ruled out foul play. The entertainment fraternity and her fans continue to mourn the loss of a dynamic and beloved personality.
