Shahid Kapoor, who had a successful 2024 with Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, is set to kick off 2025 with his action-packed release Deva. Scheduled to hit cinemas on January 31, the film recently underwent its certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The CBFC awarded Deva a U/A certificate but requested three key modifications, as reported by Bollywood Hungama:
1. Reduction in lip-lock scene: A six-second cut was made to a lip-lock sequence.
2. Modification of a foul gesture: A specific visual was "suitably modified" for general viewing.
3. Replacement of foul words: Instances of strong language were replaced with milder alternatives, with changes also reflected in the subtitles.
Additionally, the CBFC asked for clarification regarding the reference to Hutatma Chowk in Mumbai. The filmmakers complied by submitting a script aligned with the dialogues in the film.
Once these adjustments were made, Deva was granted its U/A certificate on December 30, 2024. The final runtime of the film is 156 minutes and 59 seconds (2 hours, 36 minutes, and 59 seconds).
This aligns with Shahid Kapoor's trend of longer films—six of his last seven theatrical releases have exceeded 150 minutes. Notable examples include Rangoon (2 hours 50 minutes), Kabir Singh (2 hours 55 minutes), and Jersey (2 hours 51 minutes).
Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Umesh K R Bansal, Deva also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana, and Kubbra Sait.
