Shruti Haasan has recently starred in the song Kannakuzhikaaraa from Mysskin's upcoming Tamil film Train, in which she co-stars with Vijay Sethupathi. She continues her impressive creative streak.
The Tamil song strengthens Shruti's expanding body of work in multi-layered, performance-driven film, where acting and music frequently come together, by adding a unique emotional element to the story.
Shruti shared her experience of working with Mysskin and said, “I had a great time working with him. He is a very unique person. He makes you feel liberated and free in the environment of working. He lets you explore.”
She was able to approach her performance with instinct and experimentation because of the cooperation.
The actress further shared her insight into the nuances of her performance and added, “How do you hyperventilate without looking like you are hyperventilating? It was really interesting.”
The release of Kannakuzhikaaraa follows an exceptionally successful year for Shruti, during which she collaborated with Vijay Sethupathi on Train, performed and sang the title track of Varanasi for S.S. Rajamouli under the direction of M.M. Keeravani, and appeared in Coolie alongside Rajinikanth.
December 2023 marked the start of Train filming. A preview of Mysskin's soundtrack for the movie, performed by Shruti Haasan, was published in January 2025. On the technical front, Sri Watson is the editor and Fowzia Fathima is the cinematographer. Train is being produced by Kalaipuli V Thanu under the name V Creations.
There were earlier rumors that Train would be released on November 28. However, the movie's release date has not yet been disclosed.
In a year marked by artistic diversity, deliberate decisions, and a smooth transition between music and film, the project adds yet another significant partnership.
