Parasakthi, the historical political drama headlined by Sivakarthikeyan, continued its box office run into the first week of release with a notable jump in collections on Day 6, thanks in part to the Pongal holiday boost.
According to a trade website, the film has now crossed the Rs 35 crore net mark in India after earning around Rs 5.10 crore on its sixth day alone — a clear rise from its mid-week numbers earlier in the run.
Released on January 10, 2026, Parasakthi opened to strong initial figures but saw attendance dip on the weekday shows that followed.
However, the timing of the Pongal festival helped reverse that trend, bringing larger audiences into theatres and lifting overall occupancy levels, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where family and holiday crowds tend to support local releases.
The film, directed by Sudha Kongara, stars Sivakarthikeyan alongside Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, Atharvaa and features appearances by Rana Daggubati. Set in 1960s Madras, the narrative draws on themes tied to the anti-Hindi imposition agitation, blending historical context with socially charged drama. Despite mixed critical reception, viewers have been engaging with the story, and positive word-of-mouth during the festival period has helped sustain its run.

Looking ahead, Parasakthi is expected to benefit further if weekend attendance remains solid and if it continues to draw audiences interested in its themes and performances. With a total of approximately Rs 35.85 crore already accumulated in India, the film is shaping up to be a noteworthy performer in the early part of 2026’s box office calendar.
