
Sivakarthikeyan starrer Parasakthi hit the theatres on January 10 after facing uncertainty regarding its censor permission. The film has registered a significant release after just two days of its release.
According to a trade website, Parasakthi earned Rs 2.40 crore net in India on its fourth day, Tuesday, January 13. The film’s total now stands at Rs 28 crore net in India. Parasakthi had an overall 17.18% Tamil occupancy on Tuesday.
The historical drama collected Rs 12.5 crore net in India on day 1 of its release and continued its momentum, earning Rs 10.10 crore net in India. However, the film registered a steep decline in its collection on its third day as it earned Rs 3 crore net in India.
Meanwhile, Parasakthi has also earned a decent collection at the worldwide box office, earning Rs 48.03 crore worldwide in three days. The film collected Rs 17.6 crore overseas. However, the historical drama minted Rs 30.43 crore gross in India.
The film faced a few challenges just before its release. Only at the last minute, after obtaining a UA certificate from the CBFC, was the movie authorised for its January 10 distribution. The producers made 25 changes before approval, including language adjustments and visual cutbacks.
Parasakthi has again landed in controversy after the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress sought a ban on the film, accusing the makers of distorting historical events involving the Congress.

The film, which was also written by Sudha Kongara, tells a politically charged tale about Tamil Nadu's opposition to the imposition of Hindi. In addition to Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and Ravi Mohan play major roles in the movie.
As a coal tosser at the Indian Railways, Sivakarthikeyan played a grounded character in the movie. Intense demonstrations against the Central government for imposing Hindi in Tamil Nadu were depicted in the movie.
Atharvaa Murali portrays Sivakarthikeyan's younger brother, whose choice to join the agitation initially causes conflict in the family. On January 9, the film debuted in theatres.
